9th Annual Pittsburgh Ringing Course
Don Morrison organized the course to focus on helping students develop the practical skills necessary to make the transition from simpler methods to ringing surprise (Cambridge and Norwich). Students were expected to arrive well grounded in the methods’ structures, so no time was spent onsite reviewing theory from books or through sketchy bluelines on whiteboards. We appreciated the hospitality extended by Don Morrison and Elizabeth Boyd who hosted get-togethers and meals at their nearby home. Finally we were all glad to have a little time on the ropes with Ross before he departs back to the U.K.
Students: Sue DeVuyst (Rochester), Susan Lagrone (Birmingham), Thomas Lagrone (Birmingham), Kit Matthew (Charleston), Matt Nelson (Pittsburgh), Phil Teague (Birmingham)
Helpers: Rob Bannister (Washington), Ted Clark (Birmingham), Ross Finbow (Pittsburgh), Tony Furnivall (New York), Chris Haller (Rochester), Margaret Miller (Kalamazoo), Meredith Morris (Washington), Linda Rankin (Dallas), Dave Westmoreland (Brewster)
Several successful quarters resulted with firsts in a method for Susan Lagrone, Thomas Lagrone, Kit Matthew, and Matt Nelson. Also two successful handbell quarters resulted as well. Finally there were several other firsts in method for Norwich Minor.
